Jonny's Blog Mission Statement

To record major events or random thoughts in order to 1) provide my future self with reflection on the past 2) keep my family more in the loop 3) improve my journal writing; being encouraged to use proper grammar, correct spelling, and a creative flow that will be more interresting for my future self or family to read than the journal I am currently keeping electronically. Wow- I wonder how that rates on geekiness!!

Time for Random

So these last few weeks have been pretty fun but I don’t have a certain topic to write about today so this will probably just be a whole bunch of random. Here it goes: HBM's softball team has yet to win a game but that’s ok because I just like to go out and play. I have been trying to get around to fixing the flat on my trials bike; I have gone to buy all of the required tools and should be set to go, but I guess I just need something to prop my bike up on so that I can take off the tire. I took myself on a shopping spree at Lowes and bought everything I needed to plant a garden. I bought tomatoe cages, miracle grow, and a whole bunch of spinach and cucumber seeds. I also bought two shovels; a normal one and a square-mouth, along with a hoe and a rake. I planted my garden on Saturday and was pretty unhappy to discover how bad my soil is out back. It's full of indian clay and rocks and was pretty near to impossible to work with. I bought a garden hose and a sprinkler head, but so far I have noticed that the sprinkler head doesnt do much ogod becuase the ground does not soak in any moisture and I can water it for five minutes and have puddles everywhere. Kinda crazy. I think I am going to buy one of those things that I can do all of my watering by hand with. That will probably work the best with my cucumber plants and what-not. I think I'll have a lot more success next summer when I can get my planter boxes and sprinkler system installed. Moving on.. I got a new senior at work named Arshak Davtyan and I think that as long as I do a good job I will be fine and we should get along. He's from Cambodia (I think), and speaks like seven different languages. Him and I had some good conversations yesterday about soccer and the stock market- so we've got a few similar interrests which is always good. I am getting along great with my roommates although I've been noticing some problems now and then with the guys making marks in my walls and not telling me about them. Matt is moving out in September and the crazy thing is that I've already found someone to take his place! A guy named Sterling came by last night and asked if he could move in when Matt left, which is pretty awesome. I have wondered if I could possibly be charging too little, because getting room mates has really been easier than I expected it to be. My only problem with the roommates so far has been that David keeps parking in the driveway blocking the garage when we agreed that he would park on the street only. He also hasn't paid me his whole cleaning deposit- which is buggin. I think at the end of the month I am going to write up an invoice and make some notes on it- that's if this keeps being a problem. I am supposed to go have my year-end evaluation with the partners of the office and I'm not super excited about it because I'm always afraid of being let go. I have prepared my list of goals and stuff to go over with them. I think it would really be crazy if by some miraculous chance I got a raise- although none of us here in the office are expecting raises this year with the economy in the kind of shape that it is in. I guess I could get by without one; it would give me a better excuse to go and eat sushi more often. Rob introduced me to sushi not too long ago and I have decided that I really like it. Kinda crazy how much I do. Anyways, that's the randomness I had on my mind today-
